Sell PET bottles — plastic bottle recycling that pays you
Empty drink bottles are one of the most recycled materials in the world, and PET bottle recycling in Nigeria is growing fast. Reearnify is preparing to buy PET bottles — clear and coloured soft drink and water bottles — from market sellers, shops and collectors, starting in Ibadan.
It will work exactly like our carton pickups today: our driver comes to your stall, weighs your bottles on our scale in front of you and pays per kilo by transfer or cash the same visit. We are not buying PET yet — join the waitlist and we will call you the day we start.
Every bottle sold for recycling is one less bottle blocking a drain, burning in a heap or littering your market. You get paid, and your environment gets cleaner.
That is per kilo. The final amount depends on the weight on our scale. Current prices and updates are always on the Reearnify app and our WhatsApp channel.
How to prepare your pet bottles
- Empty every bottle completely; a quick rinse helps but is not required.
- Caps can stay on or off — both are accepted.
- Crush or step on bottles so more fit in each sack.
- Pack in sacks or bags; keep them free of food waste and sand.
What we never take
- Medical or clinical waste of any kind.
- Food waste, or anything soaked in food, oil, chemicals or sewage.
- Anything the seller cannot say where it came from.
- Wet, mouldy or oily cartons. Keep your board dry and off the ground.
- Anything still holding chemicals, fuel or paint, even an empty-looking drum.
- Anything sharp, broken or unsafe for the driver to lift by hand.
Common questions
How much are PET bottles worth per kg in Nigeria?
PET is bought by weight across Nigeria, and prices move with the recycling market. Once we launch PET buying, our published per-kilo price will always be on the Reearnify app and our WhatsApp channel — one price for everybody, no haggling.
Where can I sell plastic bottles in Ibadan?
At your own stall, once we switch PET on. Reearnify already collects cartons from markets across Ibadan; PET bottles are next in line. Join the waitlist and you will hear first.
Do you take other plastics with PET bottles?
Each material is weighed and priced separately. We also plan to buy nylon and sachet film, jerry cans and buckets (HDPE) and other hard plastics — see the full list of materials we buy.
