How to prepare your aluminium cans
- Empty every can; a quick shake-out is enough.
- Crush cans flat so more fit in each sack — crushed cans are accepted and easier to weigh.
- Keep cans separate from iron and other metals; aluminium is priced higher.
What we never take
- Medical or clinical waste of any kind.
- Food waste, or anything soaked in food, oil, chemicals or sewage.
- Anything the seller cannot say where it came from.
- Wet, mouldy or oily cartons. Keep your board dry and off the ground.
- Anything still holding chemicals, fuel or paint, even an empty-looking drum.
- Anything sharp, broken or unsafe for the driver to lift by hand.

How many cans make a kilogram?
Roughly 60 to 70 empty drink cans weigh about one kilogram. A few sacks of crushed cans add up faster than most people expect.
