Old jerry cans, broken buckets, kegs and bottle crates are HDPE — a hard plastic recyclers pay well for by weight. Reearnify is preparing to buy HDPE from market sellers, starting in Ibadan, collected from your stall and paid per kilo the same visit.

How to prepare your hdpe (jerry cans, buckets)
- Rinse containers — anything still holding chemical, fuel or paint residue cannot be accepted.
- Remove metal handles and fittings where you can.
- Stack or nest containers to save space until pickup day.
What we never take
- Medical or clinical waste of any kind.
- Food waste, or anything soaked in food, oil, chemicals or sewage.
- Anything the seller cannot say where it came from.
- Wet, mouldy or oily cartons. Keep your board dry and off the ground.
- Anything still holding chemicals, fuel or paint, even an empty-looking drum.
- Anything sharp, broken or unsafe for the driver to lift by hand.
Common questions
What counts as HDPE?
Jerry cans, buckets, kegs, crates and similar stiff containers. If it is a thick, hard plastic container, it is probably HDPE. Soft nylon and drink bottles (PET) are bought separately.
Do you take containers that held chemicals?
Only if they are properly rinsed and hold no residue. Anything still holding chemicals, fuel or paint — even an empty-looking drum — is never accepted, for the driver’s safety.
